Comment: I want to say what a great site. I'm researching my great grandfathers history. In my search I found him listed in a book published in Sweden called "Rydetsläkten" which I have obtained a copy of. I have used your Dictionaries (Military, Medical, etc..) to help in translating the notations. Also your information on Swedish Military and History has helped me greatly in understanding what life was like for my descendants. Keep up the great work. Your bookmark is the most often used.

Comment: I have been researching our family history and became particularly interested in the wars etc as our Grandfather left Sweden late 1889 and enlisted with the British to fight in the Boer War in South Africa.

Comment: I came across your response to a question re soldier's names and from there to your soldier's
page which has historical depth and which I found to be really interesting. I have a living cousin in Angelholm who neither speaks nor writes English, but we manage holiday cards and short notes etc. My great grandfather was Alexander Bengtsson Quist. He was very proud of his service to his country.

Comment: Jag skriver en bok om Elfströms Tekniska Fabrik i Gävle. I dagsverksböckerna finns bokfört vad var och en tjänade per dag, samt med början 1940 en kolumn som kallas kristillägg. Tilläggets storlek varierar mellan 75 öre och 3 kronor per dag. Jag har bläddrat i ett antal riksdagstryck på biblioteket men inte ens bibliotekspersonalen klarar av att hitta några begripliga uppgifter om kristillägg. Jag vill veta hur pengarna hamnade hos arbetsgivaren och vad som styrde hur pengarna skulle fördelas.

Comment: My great great grandfathers name was Johan Petter Härdin. I suspect that Härdin is a military name. I have searched on the soldier website and 3 Härdins come up but not his name. How can I find out if it was him in the military or someone else before him? He was born in Bollnäs Parish in Helsingland on March 26, 1816 and died in Soderäla Parish on March 7, 1874. I also would like to know what his surname would have been if it he had not chosen Härdin. Thankyou for any help you can give me.
